CIM draws government's attention to insulting comments spread against Marwari community

A A- A+

KATHMANDU: Chamber of Industries Morang (CIM) has drawn the attention of the government to the insulting comments and statements being spread through media targeting the Marwari community regarding the deteriorating economic condition of the state.

The press statement issued by CIM said the Constitution of Nepal 2072 has established the rights of all Nepali citizens to live freely and to do business as a fundamental right. Although the constitution treats all citizens equally, some people are constantly making insulting statements through the media targeting the entire Marwari community while the state has done nothing to stop the spreading of hatred that has disrupted social harmony, the organisation lamented.

The private sector organisation suggested the government should take the initiative to stop such activities against the Marwari community, which has made an unparalleled contribution to the economic and social development of the country for centuries.

CIM said that anyone who commits wrongdoing, regardless of community or class, should be punished, and demanded the government immediately take legal action and discourage the misrepresentation and spreading of prejudice that is targeting the entire community based on the assumption that someone has done something wrong.

"In recent times, when the country's economy is in a very serious state, all the state agencies, political parties, private sector and the general public should make a collective effort to improve the economic situation and work for industrial business development.
