CNI delegation meets FM Saud, urges to prioritise economic diplomacy

A A- A+

KATHMANDU: Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) has urged the government to prioritise the export of Nepali products via Nepali embassies abroad.

During a discussion held with Foreign Minister NP Saud on Sunday, a delegation led by CNI President Rajesh Kumar Agrawal urged the government to prioritise economic diplomacy to promote tourism, export of Nepali products and bring in foreign investment.

CNI President Agrawal suggested the government create investment friendly atmosphere for attracting foreign direct investment (FDI). Policy stability is equally important for it, he underscored.

According to Agrawal, expansion of business relations with foreign investors is imperative for drawing FDI. The CNI also suggested the Nepali embassies abroad facilitate regular visits and interactions with foreign business representatives.

The delegation of the private sector organisation also demanded the government give continuity to the cargo railway service presently in operation from India to Biratnagar. The CNI representatives further reminded the government to take initiative for 'motor vehicle agreement' with India.

On the occasion, Foreign Minister Saud assured that government would prioritise the issues raised by CNI.
