KATHMANDU: The gold and silver businesspersons submitted a memorandum to the Nepal Bankers' Association (NBA). The memorandum includes 21-point demand covering various problems seen in the gold and silver business sector.
A joint task force on behalf of Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers' Association (FENEGOSIDA), Federation of Nepal Gold Silver Gem and Jewelery Associations (FNGSGJA) and Federation of Handicraft Associations of Nepal (FHAN) reached the NBA office in Kathmandu on Tuesday and submitted the demand.
The taskforce led by FENEGOSIDA President Manik Ratna Shakya met with NBA President Sunil KC, Nepal Bank Ltd CEO Krishna Bahadur Adhikari and Executive Director Anil Sharma and submitted their demands.
FENEGOSIDA President Shakya briefed about various problems being faced by the gold and silver businesspersons and suggested that the NBA should take steps to solve the problems.
The demands include the determination of margin in the purchase of gold, gold distribution, and the system of distributing gold annually based on the daily arrival of gold. Other points in the demand include extending the current system of collecting gold within 15 days making arrangements for distributing gold only on the basis of recommendations after 15 days, and making gold available at the checkpoints in the provinces. Further, it was suggested that the complicated processes in the gold business should be removed.
According to FENEGOSIDA Vice President and Coordinator of the joint task force, Bipin Ramudamu, NBA has viewed the demands of businesspersons positively. According to him, Nepal Bankers' Association has also committed to taking the initiative to fulfil those demands as soon as possible.
FNGSGJA First Vice President Ram Prasad Lakandri and Third Vice President Dwarik Shankar were also present at the consultation.
