CNI President Agrawal, Chinese Ambassador Chen discuss investment, business relations

KATHMANDU: Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Chen Song and Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) President Rajesh Kumar Agrawal held a meeting on Tuesday to discuss the ideas for promoting bilateral investment and business relations between Nepal and China. 

During the meeting, CNI President Agrawal said that Nepal-China cooperation was vital in the areas of infrastructure development adding that China is Nepal's one of the key development partners.  

Likewise, Agrawal urged the Chinese Ambassador to accord top priority to investment and cooperation in the areas of technology transfer, skill development and tourism sector.

The CNI President urged Ambassador Chen to cooperate with the Nepali business community to export Nepali goods to the Chinese market through e-commerce. 

Further, he urged the Chinese Ambassador to do something visible in Nepal with the cooperation of CNI and China Council for Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT).

Ambassador Chen suggested that Nepal could develop through the use of national resources including hydropower generation adding that a long-term development strategy was needed. He opined that Nepal's imports could be substituted through the increased usage of power. 

During the meeting, matters related to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal's upcoming China visit and others were also discussed.
