KATHMANDU: Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) and the Joint Trade Union Coordination Centre (JTUCC) forged a historic memorandum of understanding (MoU) to address critical labour-related issues in Nepal.
The MoU signing ceremony, graced by CNI President Rajesh Kumar Agrawal and JTUCC President Binod Shrestha, marked a significant step towards fostering cooperation and collaboration between industry and labour organisations.
During his welcome remarks, CNI President Agrawal emphasized the paramount importance of such partnerships in addressing labour-related challenges. He acknowledged the myriad issues faced by labourers and stressed the urgency of resolving these matters promptly. Agrawal also commended the effective work of organisations like ELMS and Make in Swadeshi in this regard.
JTUCC President Shrestha expressed his elation at the collaboration with CNI and underscored the significance of breaking down barriers that had previously hindered such partnerships. He emphasized that joint efforts between labour and industry could yield fruitful results, contributing to meaningful milestones and the overall development of the nation.
Shrestha highlighted the crucial role of labour in organisations, emphasizing that without their contributions, even the largest organisations would lack value. He asserted that collaborative efforts often lead to fruitful outcomes and spoke optimistically about the MoU's potential to discourage Nepali youths from seeking employment abroad.
He firmly believed that this MoU would not be confined to paper but would translate into impactful actions within the economic landscape. This historic partnership between CNI and JTUCC is anticipated to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Nepal's labour industry, fostering prosperity, and dissuading Nepali youths from seeking opportunities overseas.
