
GANDAKI: Visiting United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called for the international community to express much solidarity to the efforts to make the world resilient to climate change impact.
In his brief talk to mediapersons in Pokhara after observing the Annapurna Base Camp today, the UN Secretary-General said, "I visit exactly to send a clear message to the world it is essential to stop this war against nature, it is essential to stop this looting and generating climate change."
"It is essential to preserve these wonderful mountains and these wonderful nations," he said.
He said that the countries like Nepal which do not contribute to climate change, but suffer the consequences and mentioned the landslides and natural disasters and the communities that have been deeply impacted negatively by climate change. He underlined the need for international support and funding to such nations suffering from the consequences of climate change.
