KATHMANDU: Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) and the Intellectual Property Protection Society of Nepal (IPPSON) jointly organised a training programme for young entrepreneurs and businesspersons regarding intellectual property protection.
A press statement issued by NCC said the Introductory course on "Intellectual Property Rights" was held with the aim of informing young entrepreneurs about the protection of intellectual property created by the use of human intelligence and international practice. About three dozen young entrepreneurs participated in the training organised at Chamber Bhawan in Jamal, Kathmandu, on November 10.
Vishu Kumar KC, Executive Chairman of IPPSON, apprised the young entrepreneurs of the status of intellectual property protection in Nepal and international practice.
NCC President Rajendra Malla said that young entrepreneurs were trained to establish the legal system of intellectual property owners and the rights given by the state. President Malla said that industrialists, concerned officials of government agencies and the media should be aware of intellectual property rights.
The concept of intellectual property has come to support the economic, social and cultural development of the society. Patent, design and trademark laws have been in force in Nepal since 1993 BS.
NCC has also been conducting various campaigns for the protection of intellectual property.
