
KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has reached Dubai, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) today, leading a high-level delegation to the 28th Conference of Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28).
COP28 is set to begin in Dubai today and will run till December 12, 2023.
Prime Minister Dahal is scheduled to attend the high-level segment of the COP 28-World Climate Action Summit that runs from December 1 to 2. He will be delivering a national statement on 'Call of the Mountain: Who Saves Us from the Climate Crisis?' on December 2 on the sideline to raise the voice of Nepal on climate change as well as promote the mountain agenda in the COP negotiation process.
PM Dahal landed at the Dubai International Airport at around 1:30 am today as per Nepal time. Nepali Ambassador to the UAE, Tej Bahadur Chhetri, the UAE's Ambassador to Nepal, Abdulla Saeed Mubarak Jarwan Al Shamsi, and officials at the Embassy of Nepal in UAE received PM Dahal at the international airport.
Prime Minister Dahal is scheduled to visit the Embassy of Nepal in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the UAE, today.
In the evening, Dahal will address a programme scheduled to be jointly organised by FNCCI and Dubai Chamber in the evening today, stated the PM's Secretariat.
The prime minister is also scheduled to attend the 52nd Union Day Celebration of the UAE and Zayed Sustainability Prize Awards Ceremony hosted by the UAE.
In the margins of the High-Level Segment, the prime minister will have bilateral meetings with heads of state, heads of government and other high dignitaries attending COP28.
