KATHMANDU: Federation of Handicraft Associations of Nepal (FHAN) is set to organise 20th Handicraft Trade Fair and 18th Craft Competition in Kathmandu from December 14 to 18.
At a press meet held on Monday, FHAN President Prachanda Shakya said Nepali handicrafts have a significant contribution to the national economy and emphasized the importance of special attention from the government and others concerned for its protection and promotion.
On the occasion, FHAN President Shakya informed that the handicrafts made in Nepal were exported to over 60 countries.
He said the handicraft trade fair to be held at Hotel Annapurna, Durbar Marg will have three pavilions with 130 stalls.
The handicraft trade fair is expected to receive more than 100,000 visitors, according to organisers. Likewise, anyone securing the first position at the 18th Craft Competition will get a cash prize of Rs 50,000, while the second one Rs 30,000 and the third Rs 20,000, it was informed during the press meet.
Similarly, 10 senior citizens and noted artists aged over 70 years will be honoured on the occasion.
