KATHMANDU: The Association of Chartered Accountants of Nepal (ACAN) has honoured Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) President Chandra Prasad Dhakal with the Corporate Excellency Award.

President Ramchandra Paudel presented Dhakal with a letter of commendation and offered a khata (traditional ceremonial scarf) amidst a special event held in Kathmandu on Thursday.

FNCCI President Dhakal was acknowledged for his contributions to the nation's economy, physical and human development, job creation, and socio-economic development, as highlighted by ACAN.

"Having been born and initially educated in the remote rural society of western Nepal, he has successfully established an empire in the fields of finance, business, industry, banking, shipping, tourism, hydropower, insurance, and social services. This honour recognises his passion, dedication, competence, and ability in the construction, upliftment, and operation of the nation's economy, physical and human development, employment, and the structure of numerous sectors," the letter of appreciation stated.

Upon receiving the honour, Dhakal expressed his emotions and stated that this recognition would instil in him a greater sense of responsibility for the future.

The President also honoured Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) Governor Maha Prasad Adhikari and senior ophthalmologist Dr Sanduk Ruit at the programme organised by ACAN.

Governor Adhikari has been feted for the contribution he has made to the country's economy as the governor of the central bank.

Dr Ruit has been honoured in recognition of his contribution to the medical sector of Nepal, especially to the eye treatment sector, according to ACAN.
