PM Oli announces to expand scope of social security

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has announced plans to expand the scope of social security.

In his address at a programme organised by the Social Security Fund (SSF) to mark the seventh Social Security Day on Tuesday, the Prime Minister stated that the SSF will be expanded to benefit the offspring of fund contributors. The new facility will be available after 90 days, he said.

He mentioned that for medical support from the SSF, any contributor whose medical treatment costs exceed Rs 100,000 will have 50% of the total expense covered by the Fund.

On the occasion, PM Oli reiterated the government's responsibility and accountability in implementing the fundamental rights of citizens guaranteed by the Constitution.

The Prime Minister also awarded major contributors and service providers under the SSF.
