
KATHMANDU: President Ramchandra Paudel is set to present the government’s policies and programmes for the fiscal year 2025/26 before a joint session of the upper and lower Houses of Parliament at 3:00 pm on May 2.
According to the Federal Parliament Secretariat, preparations for the Head of State’s address are in their final stages. Invitations have been extended to the Chief Justice, office bearers of constitutional bodies, senior government officials, heads and representatives of diplomatic missions in Kathmandu, as well as leaders and representatives from the private sector.
A security rehearsal has been scheduled for Friday morning to ensure the President’s safety during the event.
Following the joint session, the House of Representatives and the National Assembly will convene separately to formally extend a vote of thanks to the President for presenting the government’s policies and programmes, Secretariat spokesperson Eakram Giri stated.
Additionally, a letter from the Office of the President regarding the appointment of Kham Bahadur Garbuja as Minister of State for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation will be read out during the meeting.
