KATHMANDU: Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Dipak Khadka, has instructed the relevant authorities to ensure the timely completion of Sunkoshi Marin Multipurpose Diversion Project.
While reviewing the project's implementation status and challenges today, Minister Khadka stressed the need for agencies to explore ways to accelerate its progress. He added that the project is also a priority for the Prime Minister.
Minister Khadka voiced concern over recurring issue of construction companies undertaking multiple projects simultaneously, resulting in delays and hampering overall development efforts.
Citing a similar case, the minister noted that Bheri Babai Diversion Multipurpose Project has achieved only 60% progress in six years, despite an initial target for completion in four years.
Meanwhile, Ministry Secretary Sarita Dawadi stated that progress on the Sunkoshi Marin Diversion Project remains minimal.
Director General of the Department of Water Resources and Irrigation, Sanjeev Baral, criticised construction companies for failing to fulfil their commitments to complete projects within the deadline.
