KATHMANDU: The government has honoured Ncell as the highest income taxpayer in the country's information and communications technology (ICT) sector. The recognition was presented to the company during a special event on Friday to mark the 8th National ICT Day 2025 in Kathmandu.

Observed annually on May 2, National ICT Day promotes the development and advancement of the country’s ICT sector. At the event, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli awarded a certificate of honour to Punam Singh, Director of Marketing, Communications and Sustainability at Ncell.

The accolade recognises Ncell’s significant contribution to the nation, paying the highest amount of tax in the ICT sector for fiscal year 2023/24. The company has long been acknowledged as one of Nepal’s leading contributors in tax payments.

"We are grateful to the government for recognising our contributions to the ICT sector on this special occasion of National ICT Day 2025. As one of the major taxpayers, Ncell has been making substantial tax contributions to the government every year across various tax and fee categories. We are proud to have played a crucial role in the development of ICT and the economic growth of the country. At Ncell, we remain committed to continuing our contributions to ICT development, supporting the Digital Nepal vision in line with our theme ‘Here for You’, here for Nepal," said Jabbor Kayumov, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Ncell.

Ncell has received multiple government recognitions in the past, including the title of highest income taxpayer and highest taxpayer. In December last year, Lalitpur Metropolitan City acknowledged the company as the highest institutional taxpayer for its substantial tax contributions during fiscal year 2023/24.

Since its establishment, Ncell has paid over Rs 340 billion in taxes and fees as of the last fiscal year. In the fiscal year 2023/24 alone, the company contributed Rs 20.30 billion in taxes and fees. Additionally, through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives via the Ncell Foundation, the company has invested over Rs 2 billion in community development efforts across Nepal. These initiatives have reached all seven provinces, benefiting more than 13 million people nationwide.
