Turkish Airlines hosts World Golf Cup at Gokarna Forest Resort Golf Club

• Kathmandu’s champion will represent the city in the Turkish Airlines World Golf Cup Grand Finals 

KATHMANDU: Turkish Airlines, which flies to more countries than any other airline, brought the Turkish Airlines World Golf Cup to Gokarna Forest Resort Golf Club on Sunday. The event was attended by prominent figures and members of the business community.

Since its launch in 2013, the Turkish Airlines World Golf Cup has brought together over 10,000 players competing in more than 130 tournaments across 83 countries worldwide.

The tournament at Gokarna Forest Resort Golf Club was the 20th of 130 competitions in this year’s Turkish Airlines World Golf Cup. Local champions will compete in the Grand Finals in Türkiye later this year. Those who qualify from the global total of 130 tournaments will progress to the Grand Finals, where they will have the opportunity to play at Gloria Golf Club and stay at Gloria Serenity Resort on the Turkish Golf Coast.

Representing Kathmandu, Swadesh Gurung secured the championship title with 42 points, while Ang Dendi finished as runner-up and Pradip KC placed third.

In the Closest to the Pin competition, Manohar Das Mool won in the men’s category, while Bipana Shrestha claimed victory in the women’s category. The Gross award was won by Wangchen Dhondup, who achieved a score of 41.

Turkish Airlines General Manager in Kathmandu, Serkan Başar, expressed his gratitude, stating: “We thank all of our guests who made the Turkish Airlines World Golf Cup here in Kathmandu a huge success. Once again, it was a thrilling tournament in the TAWGC series. Congratulations to our winner, Swadesh Gurung. We wish him the best of luck in Türkiye.”

All finalists of the Turkish Airlines World Golf Cup will fly to Türkiye in the luxury and comfort of Turkish Airlines’ Business Class.
