KATHMANDU: Swostishree Gurukul IB World School held a graduation ceremony for SEE and Grade 12 graduates in Kathmandu on Saturday.
The guest of honour at the event was Ram Krishna Chitrakar, former minister and provincial assembly member from Lalitpur Constituency, while the keynote speaker was Anil Chitrakar, engineer and founder of Environmental Camps for Conservation Awareness.
Neha KC, Principal of Swostishree Gurukul, opened the ceremony by inviting the gathered parents to reminisce with the students about their multiyear experience at the school.
Keynote speaker Chitrakar offered advice to the graduates. He first reminded the audience that talent is universal, but opportunities are not. He encouraged the graduates to take risks, or risk ending up working for someone else who took one. He further reminded the students that health is for safeguarding, opined that the majority of jobs in the future have not yet been invented and warned that skills need to be updated and knowledge is for chasing, because a good education shared with peers brings lasting partnerships.

The event redefined traditions by having the parents of the graduates place the celebratory sash on their children. The graduation folder and a token of love were distributed by Anil Chitrakar and Ram Krishna Chitrakar. Each graduate utilised this opportunity to deliver a short address to an audience composed of their classmates, family and mentors.
The formal cap and gown ceremony concluded this chapter of the students' lives.
