
Kathmandu: Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has forecast widespread rainfall across Nepal today and tonight, as monsoon winds continue to influence weather patterns in the eastern and central parts of the country.
According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division, monsoon conditions are active in parts of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and eastern areas of Lumbini Province. In the western regions, weather activity is also being driven by local and westerly winds, along with a low-pressure system over West Bengal, India.
This afternoon, skies are expected to remain generally cloudy nationwide. Light to moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning is likely in many places of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, and in some other areas. One or two locations in these provinces may witness heavy to extremely heavy rainfall.
Light snowfall and rain are also possible in the high hill and mountainous regions of the country.
Tonight, the weather is expected to remain generally to fully cloudy across the country. The Division predicts continued light to moderate rain in many areas of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini, with heavy rain possible in isolated locations.
Snowfall is again likely in the higher elevations of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki, and possibly in parts of the high hills of other provinces.
The Division urges residents in affected areas to remain alert, especially in regions prone to flooding and landslides due to heavy rain.
