Shark Tank Nepal launched with grand premiere

KATHMANDU: Shark Tank Nepal held its Grand Premiere and Meet & Greet at Aloft Kathmandu Thamel on Tuesday, marking the launch of Nepal’s first business reality show.

The event brought together business leaders, media representatives and aspiring entrepreneurs.

Three of the show's Sharks – Ritu Singh Vaidya, Saurabh Jyoti and Anand Bagaria – took part in discussions on entrepreneurship and innovation in Nepal.

The evening was hosted by former Miss Nepal World Priyanka Rani Joshi and entrepreneur Sanjog Koirala. Aman Gupta, co-founder and Chief Marketing Officer of boAt and a Shark from Shark Tank India, made a guest appearance.

An interactive panel discussion covered topics relevant to Nepal’s emerging startup ecosystem. When asked about the show’s impact, Gupta said, "It has been a game changer in India with five seasons and, hopefully, will be the same for Nepal. It plays an increasing role in the entrepreneurial ecosystem."

Saurabh Jyoti added, "This is a real business reality show. It will encourage the entrepreneurial landscape, accelerate business growth and create jobs."

Aman Gupta advised young entrepreneurs to ‘think globally’ and said Nepali entrepreneurs are ‘becoming global citizens’.

Ritu Singh Vaidya urged, "Remove the boundaries of your thinking and develop the scope to reach anything, anywhere."

Anand Bagaria said 30% to 35% of pitches secured deals during the season, and he looked forward to ‘the reactions and growth stories’ of those entrepreneurs.

The evening concluded with the grand premiere screening of Shark Tank Nepal’s first episode, offering a glimpse of the passion, innovation, and ambition the show aims to foster.

Two other Sharks are Cabinet Shrestha and Hem Raj Dhakal.
