
KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Metropolitan City has unveiled a budget of Rs 25.76 billion for upcoming fiscal year 2025/26.
Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol tabled the budget at the 17th convention of the municipal assembly on Sunday.
Of the total budget for the upcoming fiscal year, Rs 20.12 billion will be met from the Metropolitan City’s internal resources and bank deposits.
Nearly Rs 5 billion will be received from the federal and provincial governments as conditional and equalisation grants and revenue sharing.
The budget states that the Metropolitan City will identify new taxpayers to improve revenue collection in the upcoming fiscal year by visiting transaction sites directly.

The KMC has announced a provision to subsidise new taxpayers who register by the end of the first six months of the upcoming fiscal year.
Coordination will also be undertaken with the federal government to integrate the house rental tax into a one-door system.
