
BIRGINJ, PARSA: Birgunj Customs Office recorded imports of Rs 625.9 billion in the last fiscal year 2024/25.
Compared with previous fiscal year 2023/24, imports rose by Rs 82.3 billion, an increase of 15.14%.
The top import category was petroleum products, valued at Rs 101.8 billion, followed by soya bean crude oil at Rs 57.6 billion. Machinery and spare parts accounted for Rs 36.63 billion, and iron and iron-based goods for Rs 34.41 billion.
Exports also showed significant growth in fiscal year 2024/25, according to Birgunj Customs Office Chief Deepak Lamichhane. Exports rose to Rs 101.84 billion, up by Rs 70.70 billion, a 227.09% increase on the previous fiscal year.
Refined soya bean oil was the most exported item, with 291,491,759 litres valued at Rs 61.45 billion shipped abroad. Other key exports included fruit juice and iron and iron-based products.
