
KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has directed relevant ministers to ensure effective management and supply of chemical fertilisers to boost agricultural production.
In a meeting held today in Singha Durbar with the Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development, Ramnath Adhikari, and the Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Damodar Bhandari, the Prime Minister issued a three-point directive calling for substantive action within the next three days.
Ministers have been instructed to present a detailed plan, including a new framework to guarantee the reliable supply of fertilisers.
The directive also calls for a nationwide campaign to promote the production and use of compost and organic fertilisers, the introduction of a subsidy policy to support the campaign, and the preparation of a study framework for establishing a domestic chemical fertiliser factory to preserve and enhance soil fertility.
