KARNALI: Karnali Province exported 365 metric tonnes of dried ginger and turmeric to Europe last fiscal year, according to the Ministry of Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperatives.
Agricultural Development Officer Purna Bahadur Thapa said the spices, grown in districts such as Salyan, Rukum (Paschim), and Surkhet, meet international standards and are shipped to countries including Germany.
Organic Valley, a local company, collects and processes the produce from farmers before exporting it. The firm also exports other organic goods like corn flour, lentils, beans, and nettle leaf powder.
The Ministry noted that over Rs 14 billion has been spent on agriculture since the province was formed, out of a total budget allocation of Rs 18.47 billion.
