KATHMANDU: Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) held a tree-planting event on Saturday morning at Bhandarkhal in Pashupati, Gaushala, to mark its diamond jubilee. On the occasion of its 75th anniversary, the NCC has been organising various programmes this year.
While planting, alongside members of the Diamond Jubilee Main Organising Committee, Minister for Forests and Environment Ain Bahadur Shahi praised the initiative as highly commendable at a time when climate change poses a serious global challenge.
Minister Shahi said, “The tree planting undertaken will not only increase greenery but will also contribute significantly to ensuring a clean and sustainable environment for future generations.” He emphasised the need for a united effort to tackle the global climate crisis.

The event, organised under the leadership of Rajesh Kazi Shrestha, Chair of the Diamond Jubilee Main Organising Committee and former President of the NCC, saw participants plant more than 100 saplings of various species on behalf of NCC officials and executive committee members.
Shrestha expressed commitment to the ongoing protection and promotion of the saplings. He stated that the NCC, in line with its social responsibility, will continue to play a leading role in environmental protection and sustainable development activities in the coming days.
Participants noted that the programme underscored the NCC’s dedication to social and environmental responsibility throughout its 75-year history.
As part of its Diamond Jubilee celebrations, the NCC – the country’s first representative private-sector organisation to have been active for 75 years – will highlight the range of initiatives it has undertaken to foster economic prosperity and strengthen the private sector’s capacity.
