KATHMANDU: MAW Vriddhi, the official distributor of Deepal and Changan electric vehicles in Nepal, has launched the Deepal S05, a luxury electric SUV designed to set a new benchmark in the country’s growing EV market.

The Deepal S05 was unveiled on Thursday by Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Chen Song; Shen Xinghua, Managing Director of Changan Auto Southeast Asia Co; MAW Vriddhi Chairman Vishnu Kumar Agarwal; and MAW Vriddhi Managing Director Vivek Sikaria.

“The new Deepal S05 is filled with world-class EV technology, luxury and design excellence, and will elevate the driving experience to new heights,” Agarwal said.

Thanks to its futuristic aesthetics and aerodynamic mastery, the Deepal S05 has won Europe’s iF Design Award 2025. It boasts a drag coefficient of just 0.258 Cd—the lowest in Nepal’s SUV segment—combining performance efficiency with striking beauty.

Its shark-nose front, spacecraft-inspired headlamps, frameless doors, flush handles, star-feather LED taillights and luminous rear logo underscore an interstellar design theme. With a 1,900 mm stance and 1,600 mm height, the vehicle presents a bold and muscular road presence.

Inside, the S05 offers ventilated and heated front seats plus a Queen Co-Pilot Seat featuring zero-gravity positioning, leg support and one-touch nap mode. Cabin luxury is heightened by leatherette upholstery, 64-colour ambient lighting and a 14-speaker Sky Surround Sound System with outdoor speakers. A 159-litre front trunk provides the largest frunk capacity in its segment.

The SUV introduces a segment-exclusive Remote In & Out Parking feature, allowing drivers to move the car forward or backwards via the key fob. It also features ADAS 2.0 with 19 advanced safety functions—including Traffic Jam Assist, Lane Centring Control and Forward Collision Warning—and, for the first time in its class, an Augmented Reality Head-Up Display projecting navigation and driving data onto the windscreen.

Connectivity is delivered through a 14.4-inch Sunflower touchscreen, offering internet access to Spotify, YouTube, Amazon Music and live mapping. A companion smartphone app enables remote air-conditioning control, charging scheduling and vehicle locating.

Power comes from CATL’s Golden Shield Battery System 2.0, rated for 5,000 cycles (up to 600,000 km). It supports ultra-fast charging from 30% to 80% in 15 minutes, incurs less than 15% range loss at −20 °C and provides 6 kW V2L export to run external devices.

With rear-wheel drive and a 50:50 weight distribution, the S05 delivers confident handling and an NEDC range of up to 470 km.

Introductory prices start at Rs 4.899 million. Two variants are offered: the Plus at Rs 4.99 million (introductory Rs 4.899 million) and the Max at Rs 5.699 million (introductory Rs 5.499 million).

Exterior choices include Moonlight White, Ganymede Grey, Deep Space Black, Andromeda Blue and Mercury Silver. The cabin is trimmed in orange and black leatherette for a bold, premium feel.
