KATHMANDU: The House of Representatives’ Agriculture, Cooperative and Natural Resources Committee approved its report on the Bill to Amend Certain Nepal Acts Relating to Land, 2082, in a meeting today.
Committee Chair Kusumdevi Thapa said the report was passed by a majority vote.
Members of the Nepali Congress, CPN (UML) and the Nagarik Unmukti Party seconded the motion, whilst lawmakers from the CPN (Maoist Centre) and the Rastriya Swatantra Party boycotted the session.
On the occasion, Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation Balaram Adhikari stated that his ministry, together with the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, had made amendments to the report.
Lower House members Bir Bahadur Balai and Saraswati Subba urged endorsement of the report, noting that extensive discussions had already been held.
However, Rupa Sosi Chaudhary and Ashok Chaudhary requested additional time to lodge a dissenting proposal, arguing that certain phrases previously included in the report had been removed without notification.
