Top six finalists announced for 11th Glocal Teen Hero Nepal 2025
KATHMANDU: Glocal announced on Thursday the six finalists for the 11th edition of Golchha Group presents Glocal Teen Hero Nepal 2025, the nation’s foremost platform recognising exceptional teenagers whose initiatives have made a tangible difference in their communities.
This year’s competition attracted 784 applications, reflecting the diverse talents and dedication of Nepal’s youth across child rights activism, innovation, technology, entrepreneurship, education, health activism, social activism, environmental protection and AI research.
After an initial shortlist of 20 under-20 changemakers — Glocal’s ‘20 under 20’ — a distinguished five-member jury reviewed applications, supporting documents and essays to identify the final six contenders. The finalists, aged 13 to 19, are Krish Yadav, a content creator from Dhanusha; Manushi Neupane, a sexual and reproductive health-rights advocate from Syangja; Nischal Dhungana, a climate justice campaigner from Kapilvastu; Oxford Acharya, a policy advocate from Jumla; Renuka Singh, an agro-entrepreneur from Sarlahi; and Safal Poudel, an AI developer from Rupandehi.
The screening panel comprised Chandrika Kalia, Country Director of Coca-Cola Nepal; Dr Ghana Shyam Gurung, Country Director of WWF Nepal; Seema Golchha, Director of Golchha Group; Suraj Vaidya, President of VOITH; and Thomas Miller, Chargé d’affaires of the European Union to Nepal. Finalists were assessed on creativity, achievement, impact and the sustainability of their work.
In the lead-up to the final interviews on September 1, the six finalists will participate in self-competency workshops and networking sessions with corporate, diplomatic and industry mentors. Public SMS voting will run from 5:00 pm on August 21 to 5:00 pm on August 31 and will contribute to determining Glocal Teen Hero Nepal 2025. To cast their vote, supporters should text GTH2025
The award ceremony will take place on September 1 at The Plaza in Lalitpur, with dignitaries from the diplomatic corps, political sphere, academia, business community, youth leadership and the arts in attendance.
Glocal Teen Hero Nepal is initiated by Glocal and powered by Golchha Group as title partner, in strategic partnership with the European Union, the Embassy of India, Kathmandu, and Plan International. Embark College serves as the educational partner, while Honda, Coca-Cola, WWF, Panchakanya Group, KFC, Toyota and Real provide additional support.
