KATHMANDU: Yadav Humagain, a correspondent for Aarthik Abhiyan Daily, will receive the Dr Harihar Dev Pant Economic Journalism Award - 2082 on Saturday, September 6, marking the 10th death anniversary of Dr Pant.

The annual award, established by the Dr Harihar Dev Pant Foundation in memory of the late Dr Pant – known as the father of microfinance in Nepal – honours outstanding economic journalists and organisations.

Dr Pant, the first promoter of microfinance in Nepal, dedicated most of his life to the country’s economic development and poverty alleviation.

Previous recipients include the Society of Economic Journalists–Nepal (SEJON), Gokarna Raj Awasthi, Bishnu Belbase, Eliza Upreti, Mamata Thapa, Bijay Raj Khanal, Yagya Banjade and Krishna Rijal.

The award recognises newspapers, radio stations, television channels, online news portals and individual journalists who have made significant contributions to Nepal’s overall development and economic growth. As part of this year’s programme, Humagain — who has reported on economic issues for more than 15 years — will receive a cash prize of Rs 100,000 and a certificate of honour.
