Remittance inflows rise 19.2 pc to over Rs 1,723bn in FY 2024/25

KATHMANDU: Remittance inflows increased by 19.2% to Rs 1,723.27 billion during fiscal year 2024/25, compared with 16.5% rise in the previous year, according to the latest macroeconomic and financial situation report issued by Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) on Sunday.

During mid-June to mid-July 2025 (Asar month), remittance inflows stood at Rs 189.11 billion, up from Rs 117.78 billion in the same period a year earlier.

In US dollar terms, remittance inflows rose by 16.3% to 12.64 billion in the review year, compared with a 14.5% increase in 2023/24.

Net secondary income (net transfers) reached Rs 1,874.30 billion in the review year, up from Rs 1,571.24 billion in the previous year.

The number of Nepali workers obtaining first-time approval for foreign employment stood at 505,957, while approvals for re-entry totalled 333,309; in 2023/24, these figures were 460,102 and 281,195, respectively.
