NCC holds talks with Vietnam's Vice President Xuân to boost trade, investment

KATHMANDU: Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) on Sunday held talks with Vice President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Võ Thị Ánh Xuân, in Kathmandu to elevate trade, investment and private sector cooperation between the two countries.

The meeting, which coincided with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Nepal and Vietnam, took place in the presence of Vietnam’s Honorary Consul and former NCC President Rajesh Kazi Shrestha. NCC President Kamlesh Kumar Agrawal, Immediate Past President Rajendra Malla, Senior Vice President Deepak Kumar Malhotra, NCC Nepal Women Chamber Chairperson Urmila Shrestha and other officials also attended.

Discussions centred on expanding business access, creating an investment-friendly environment, promoting industry and commerce, and exploring possibilities for mutual cooperation.

Võ Thị Ánh Xuân said close coordination between the private sectors of both countries was necessary to facilitate the expansion of bilateral trade and investment flows. She emphasised that active private sector engagement is essential to further strengthen economic relations and suggested that NCC representatives visit Vietnam to collaborate with Vietnam’s Chamber of Commerce on potential investment areas.

The NCC stressed that there is immense potential for cooperation in agriculture, tourism, energy, education and information technology, and underlined the need to move forward with practical programmes. The chamber expressed its commitment to further strengthening economic ties with Vietnam.
