KATHMANDU: Sichuan Airlines of China has applied to the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) for permission to operate flights from Pokhara International Airport to Australia via Chengdu, starting in September.
According to CAAN Information Officer Gyanendra Bhol, the application is under review, and preparations are underway to grant permission once all regulatory procedures are completed.
“The company plans to operate flights from September. Bilateral discussions are underway to finalise the process formally. The flight schedule will be submitted by the concerned airline soon,” said Bhol.
Earlier, Sichuan Airlines operated charter flights to Pokhara International Airport. The carrier now intends to launch regular services to Australia as a new destination.
