Fonepay launches 50 pc cashback campaign for new credit card users

LALITPUR: Fonepay has launched a cashback campaign for new Fonepay Credit Card users in partnership with Citizens International Bank, Everest Bank, Mahalaxmi Bikas Bank, Kumari Bank, Laxmi Sunrise Bank, Garima Bikas Bank and Shine Resunga Development Bank.

The offer, announced on Wednesday, provides 50% cashback of up to Rs 500 on all transactions made with a new Fonepay Credit Card. The campaign runs from August 27, 2025, and encourages customers to experience a smarter, more rewarding way to pay.

Since its launch last year, the fully digital Fonepay Credit Card has seen more than 12,000 issuances. Cards are issued instantly via partner banks’ mobile banking apps, eliminating paperwork and waiting times. Once activated, users can scan and pay at over 1.7 million Fonepay QR merchants across Nepal, making it the country’s most widely accepted credit card.

Diwas Kumar, CEO of Fonepay, said credit card usage in developed nations is “as common as breathing” and that every Nepali should enjoy the same convenience. He added, “This cashback initiative represents our commitment not just to providing access but to making these financial tools genuinely rewarding and beneficial for everyday Nepalis.”

Fonepay operates as a payment system operator regulated by Nepal Rastra Bank. The network enables interoperable person-to-person and person-to-merchant transactions through mobile platforms.

The Fonepay Credit Card combines the core benefits of a traditional credit card—including up to 45 days of interest-free credit and flexible repayment—with the security and ease of QR payments, removing the need for a physical card.
