
KATHMANDU: Acting Prime Minister and Minister for Urban Development Prakash Man Singh met World Bank Vice President for South Asia Johannes Zutt at the Ministry of Urban Development today.
They discussed collaboration on new projects between the ministry and the World Bank, including the Greater Lumbini Area Development Project, urban infrastructure construction and waste management in Kathmandu.
Vice President Zutt welcomed the ministry’s initiative to prioritise projects in these areas and confirmed the World Bank’s support. He said the Bank would provide assistance with development work in Lumbini, urban infrastructure construction, environmental pollution reduction and river cleaning in the Kathmandu Valley.
The visit is expected to strengthen the partnership between the Government of Nepal and the World Bank. Acting Prime Minister Singh thanked the World Bank for its support for various ministry projects and expressed hope for further cooperation on new initiatives.
