Diwan Chand elected president of Nepal LP Gas Industry Association

KATHMANDU: Diwan Chand has been elected president of Nepal LP Gas Industry Association (NLPGIA).

In the NLPGA’s 30th annual general meeting (AGM) and 12th convention in Pokhara on Sunday, Chand, Director of Himalayan Petrochemicals, secured the presidency with 33 votes. His nearest rival, Krishna Bhakta Shrestha, Director of Ugachandi Gas, received 17 votes.

Of the NLPGIA’s 57 industry members, 50 cast their ballots; all other officials and executive committee members were selected unanimously.

The 14-member executive committee comprises Shiva Prasad Ghimire as immediate past president; Surendra Raj Paudel of Baba Gas as senior vice president; and Dharma Raj Bartaula of Grihalaxmi Gas and Ashish Agrawal (Jajodia) of Kabsons Industries as vice presidents.

Amit Agrawal of Chandeshwari Gas Company was elected general secretary; Ayush Nepal of Shree Ram Gas Udhyog treasurer; and Sudip Ghimire of Prima Gas Udhyog secretary. Committee members include Sunil Sinha of Bheri Gas Udhyog; Lokharsa Shakya of Sahara Gas Udhyog; Bimal Kalakheti of Lumbini Gas Udhyog; Rajendra Prasad Dangal of Sita Shree Gas Udhyog; Bimala Subedi Dhungana of Nobel Gas Udhyog; and Manish Kumar Joshi of Panchamahalaxmi Industries.

Immediate past president Ghimire announced that programmes for the handover of responsibilities and the installation of the new committee will take place in Kathmandu.
