KATHMANDU: The Central Executive Board of Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) has raised its accidental insurance fee to Rs 9,500 for all NMA-registered mountain guides, the association announced on Monday.

The adjustment follows the government’s decision to increase accidental insurance coverage from Rs 1.5 million to Rs 2 million.

Under the revised arrangement, the NMA continues to partner with Sagarmatha Lumbini Insurance Company to provide the enhanced insurance facility. The administrative cost of Rs 2,000 remains unchanged.

The fee change takes immediate effect for any new or renewed policies. Current policyholders must pay the updated premium on their next renewal.

The NMA has urged all resource members to consult with the association’s office-bearers before arranging any rescue flight under this policy. It warned that bills or reports for rescue operations conducted without prior approval will not be entertained.
