KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Health and Population has extended its ‘Hotline 1115’ to operate around the clock, providing hospitals with real-time information on blood availability to prevent shortages for those injured during today’s Gen-Z protests.
Under the revised scheme, any hospital experiencing a blood shortage can call 1115 to obtain immediate details of stocks at blood banks or other hospitals.
Previously run under the ‘Hello Health Programme’ from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm daily, the hotline will now function overnight to ensure there is no disruption in blood supply for protest casualties and to improve access for medical facilities.
The ministry has also issued a circular instructing all federal hospitals to arrange free treatment for the injured.
At least 19 people have died across the country during today’s Gen-Z protests, and 347 have been injured, according to the ministry.
