China congratulates newly appointed PM Karki, pledges to strengthen ties with Nepal

KATHMANDU: China has congratulated Sushila Karki on her appointment as prime minister of Nepal’s interim government and has expressed its commitment to further strengthening mutual relations.

In response to a journalist’s query, a Foreign Ministry spokesperson said that China and Nepal have enjoyed friendly relations for a long time and that China will respect the development path independently chosen by the Nepali people, the Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu said.

“We are ready to work with Nepal to promote the five principles of peaceful co-existence, to exchange and increase support across different sectors and further strengthen bilateral relations,” the embassy added, quoting the spokesperson.
