KATHMANDU: Roads have been blocked by landslides triggered by rainfall in seven locations across the country today, Nepal Police said.

Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Binod Ghimire, central spokesperson for Nepal Police, said Jajarkot–Dolpa section is completely blocked following a dry landslide at Bhirkuna in Nalgad Municipality-11, Jajarkot.

Similarly, Myagdi–Beni–Darbang section is impassable after a landslide at Ghumaune Bhir in Beni Municipality-4, which occurred at 5:25 am today.

Likewise, Muglin–Narayangadh road has been closed for two days after a dry landslide at Tuinkhola in Chitwan struck at 6:25 pm on September 19. Three excavators are clearing debris, and the route is expected to reopen this afternoon.

Meanwhile, floodwaters have damaged the Miteri Pul, a bridge linking Nepal and China in Rasuwa, halting vehicular traffic on the bridge in Gosainkunda Rural Municipality-2, DIG Ghimire said.

Other blocked routes include Jajarkot–Dolpa section of Bheri Corridor Highway at Aathbiskot Municipality-6 in Rukum West and the Araniko Highway at Kodari, Bhotekoshi in Sindhupalchok, both impassable due to landslides.

Meanwhile, police have imposed a nighttime closure on the BP Highway throughout the monsoon period to prevent rainfall-related incidents. Hired vehicles are restricted from operating between 8:00 pm and 5:00 am until further notice; other private vehicles will be allowed to operate as normal.
