KATHMANDU: US President Donald Trump on Saturday repeated his claim that he brokered peace between India and Pakistan via trade and said he should receive a Nobel Prize for ending seven wars, ANI reported.
Speaking at the American Cornerstone Institute Founders’ Dinner, he said, “We stopped conflicts between India and Pakistan, Thailand and Cambodia, and influenced others in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kosovo and Serbia, Israel and Iran, Egypt and Ethiopia, and Rwanda and the Congo – 60% of them through trade.”
On the Russia–Ukraine war, Trump said he could win a Nobel if he ended that conflict, having expected an easy resolution due to his personal rapport with President Vladimir Putin.
He added that Putin “let me down” for failing to halt the fighting and insisted the war would never have begun had he remained in the White House.
Trump noted that despite urging talks between Putin and Volodymyr Zelenskyy at an Alaska summit, no peace deal materialised and the conflict continues.
