GANDAKI: Tourism entrepreneurs from Pokhara called on Finance Minister Rameshore Prasad Khanal to highlight problems facing the tourism sector.
At a meeting held at Singha Durbar on Monday, a delegation led by Pokhara Tourism Council President Taranath Pahari drew the minister’s attention to issues, including the revival of the tourism sector.
On the occasion, entrepreneurs handed over a letter outlining a charter of demands, noting that incidents of arson and vandalism during the Gen-Z protests inflicted huge losses on the sector just as the peak season was due to start.
The delegation demanded legal action to identify the groups and individuals responsible for vandalism, arson and robbery at corporate establishments during the protests, and called for prompt support for affected entrepreneurs.
Citing the cancellation of tour packages and bookings by tourists in the wake of the unrest, they urged the minister to take the necessary initiative to revive the tourism sector in the adverse situation.
