KATHMANDU: BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS), Dharan has formed a Suggestion and Grievance Hearing Committee aimed at making its services more agile, effective and user-friendly.

The committee is chaired by Prof Dr Balkrishna Bhattarai of Department of Anaesthesiology and Critical Care and invites members of the public to submit grievances or suggestions in writing.

Submissions may be handed in at the Planning and Monitoring Division office, located within the Vice Chancellor’s Office, between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm on all working days except official holidays. The committee meets to review contributions in the Vice Chancellor’s meeting room each month on the first, second and third Sundays between 4:00 pm and 5:00 pm. Individuals may attend these sessions in person to present their concerns directly.

Alongside Dr Bhattarai, committee members include Prof Dr Sami Lama (Department of Psychiatric Nursing), Prof Dr Sarun Koirala (Head of Anatomy), Dr Tarakant Bhagat (in-charge of Community Dentistry) and Dr Indra Limbu, Deputy Director of BPKIHS. Following analysis, validated issues will be submitted to the Vice Chancellor’s office for prompt action.

BPKIHS has highlighted challenges arising from its manual appointment system for Radiology, operation theatre (OT) and procedural services such as echo, cath lab, bronchoscopy, gastrointestinal endoscopy and cystoscopy. Lengthy queues, occasional conflicts, service delays and data-management difficulties have prompted calls for a more systematic, transparent and timely process.

The public is urged to contact the BPKIHS Information Officer, Dibya Raj Thapa, on 98420 41275 with details of any problems encountered.

Reports have emerged of middlemen arranging tests without billing patients; anyone with information on such activities is asked to notify Officer Thapa immediately.
