KATHMANDU: Flights have been somewhat affected by adverse weather today.
Both domestic and international services at Tribhuvan International Airport, TIA, have been delayed as poor visibility has reduced operations, said Hansa Raj Pandey, General Manager at TIA. As a result, some international services were temporarily put on hold.
Flights to Tenzing‑Hillary Airport in Lukla, Simikot Airport in Humla and other mountainous airports have been generally affected.
Pandey said that, because of the bad weather, only Instrument Flight Rules ( IFR) flights are currently operating at the airport.
He added that although some flights were delayed, the situation was not such as to require cancellations. Because of fixed air routes, usual traffic on affected services has increased.
According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD), the sky over Kathmandu Valley has been cloudy since this morning.
