KATHMANDU: The taskforce formed to determine facilities for nurses on a par with government service has been granted an additional one-month extension.
Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) Spokesperson Dr Prakash Budhathoki said the taskforce has been given an additional month, according to the agreement between the government and the protesting nurses' groups.
He stated that it has been decided to extend the deadline until December 1, as it would take some time for the taskforce to prepare a concrete action plan by carrying out a detailed study on other topics related to nurses and their facilities.
"Currently, the taskforce has pursued its work to provide nursing service facilities as agreed upon. The nursing service facilities will be implemented once the taskforce submits the report," he said.
Earlier, the government formed a 14-member taskforce under the coordination of Dr Shrikrishna Shrestha, Additional Secretary at the Ministry, regarding nursing service facilities.
The taskforce has stated that it will classify hospitals and submit a report specifying the services and facilities of nurses. Taskforce coordinator Shrestha said the work that can be done immediately will be included in the report soon.
