KATHMANDU: Nepal Economic Forum (NEF) has opened applications for the 'Nepal in Australia' programme, a scheme commissioned by the Australian Embassy in Nepal and implemented by NEF to help Nepali firms prepare for export to Australia.

The programme will identify and on‑board high‑potential Nepali enterprises, providing tailored support according to each business’s export preparedness, maturity and fit with Australian market demand. Organisers have said the training and capacity‑building activities are aimed at improving export readiness and competitiveness.

NEF has committed to an inclusive and transparent selection process, inviting applicants from across sectors, regions and demographic groups, with particular emphasis on women‑led and under‑represented businesses. Selected firms will take part in a structured capacity‑development programme designed to boost their export potential for the Australian market.

Sujeev Shakya, Chair of NEF, described the initiative as a key step in equipping Nepali enterprises with the knowledge, connections and capabilities needed to compete internationally.

Leann Johnston, Australian Ambassador to Nepal, said supporting Nepali exporters would help diversify Nepal’s economy and spur broader growth.

Applications are open to eligible Nepali businesses keen to expand into Australia. The deadline for submissions is November 15, 2025; applicants can apply online or contact organisers by email ( [email protected] ) for further information.
