KATHMANDU: Outgoing President of the Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) Rajendra Malla has urged Chinese entrepreneurs to invest in Nepal’s investment, technology and tourism sectors to strengthen bilateral trade ties.

In a meeting with Fan Xiaobo, President of the Chinese General Association of Industries and Commerce, Malla proposed enhanced cooperation in agriculture, infrastructure, technology and tourism, noting that both nations could benefit from long-term partnerships.

He said developing road links from China to the Indian border could bring trilateral trade benefits and highlighted Nepal’s potential as a trade bridge between the two neighbours. Malla also pointed to tourism opportunities, noting that attracting even one percent of China’s 100 million Buddhists could significantly boost Nepal’s economy.

Citing Nepal’s high trade deficit with China, he called for joint initiatives in technology transfer and export-oriented industries. Fan Xiaobo expressed readiness to promote investment in Nepal’s tourism, agriculture and hotel sectors and to advance trade cooperation.
