KATHMANDU: Minister for Home Affairs Om Prakash Aryal has instructed subordinate bodies to perform their duties in line with the expectations of the new generation and to ensure people experience justice.

Speaking at a regular senior management team (SMT) meeting held today at the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA), chaired by Home Secretary Rameshwar Dangal, Minister Aryal said employees must actively fulfil their responsibilities and concentrate fully on the upcoming election.

"The current government is an election government. Therefore, everyone must take responsibility to make the election process participatory and ensure citizens' voting rights, not just by being limited to old structures or acts and regulations, but by making maximum use of technology," Minister Aryal said.

The home minister instructed departmental heads to ensure their subordinate offices carry out responsibilities effectively and to convey a sense of change through improved service delivery. He said making the Gen Z coordination committee at MoHA more active and improving the process for hearing and resolving victims' complaints would remove misconceptions observed outside.

The minister also ordered the distribution of relief cards to those injured in the Gen Z protests and urged that the injured relief procedures be concluded swiftly.

Home Secretary Dangal expressed satisfaction with the performance of the Home Ministry and its subordinate structures and said that since he assumed leadership of the ministry, more than a dozen regulations, including the National Identity Card regulations and the Armed Police Force regulations, have been amended, with the Citizenship regulations in the final stage.

Secretary Dangal instructed subordinate chiefs to prioritise the ministry's immediate reform action plan and said that, since September 8, there had been a marked change in the ministry's working style.

At the meeting, departmental heads and division and branch chiefs of MoHA provided updates on the progress and status of their respective areas.
