KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index ended Monday’s trading session slightly higher, gaining 6.74 points, or 0.25 per cent, to settle at 2,601.61.
Trading activity remained moderate, with total turnover amounting to Rs 3.44 billion. A total of 7.75 million shares were exchanged through 56,122 transactions, covering 329 listed scrips.
Market breadth was positive, as share prices of 155 companies advanced, while 94 companies recorded declines. The prices of 10 companies remained unchanged.
Most sectoral indices closed in positive territory despite the modest rise in the benchmark index. However, indices of hotels and tourism, investment, microfinance, mutual funds and the ‘others’ group ended the session lower. All remaining sectors posted gains.
