Foundation stone laid for school buildings to be built with Indian assistance in Okhaldhunga, Gulmi

KATHMANDU: Foundation stone has been laid for two school buildings to be constructed with financial assistance from the Indian government.

The foundation stone for a new building for Rajyalaxmi Secondary School in Siddhicharan Municipality‑5, Okhaldhunga district, was jointly laid on Tuesday by Avinash Kumar Singh, Counsellor at the Embassy of India in Kathmandu, and Tejan Khanal, Mayor of Siddhicharan Municipality.

The Indian Embassy said the secondary school building is being constructed with a grant of more than Rs 40 million. The new structure will be a three‑and‑a‑half‑storey building and has been advanced as a High Impact Community Development Project to be implemented through Siddhicharan Municipality.

During the programme, mayor of Siddhicharan Municipality, school management and other stakeholders praised the assistance provided by the Indian government.

Likewise, another foundation stone was also laid on Tuesday for a building for Ninyukharka Secondary School in Dhurkot Rural Municipality‑3 of Gulmi district. Gitanjali Brandon, Counsellor at the Embassy of India in Kathmandu, and Bhupal Pokharel, Chairperson of Dhurkot Rural Municipality-3, jointly laid the stone.

The Indian Embassy said the Ninyukharka Secondary School building is being constructed with Indian government assistance of Rs 38 million. The new infrastructure will be a two‑storey school building including furniture, classrooms and other supporting structures, and is being implemented as a High Impact Community Development Project through Dhurkot Rural Municipality.

Ward Chairperson of Dhurkot Rural Municipality, school management and other stakeholders praised the development assistance provided by the Indian government.
