Embassy of Nepal warns Nepali citizens over work‑permit fraud in the UK

LONDON: The Embassy of Nepal in London has urged Nepali citizens to remain alert after a rise in fraud cases in which people are offered a ‘work permit’ to the United Kingdom.

Issuing a press statement, the Embassy said it had received several complaints about job‑related sponsorship and appealed to Nepali citizens to be cautious about such commitments in the UK.

According to the Embassy, many of those being cheated are among people intending to travel to the UK from Nepal. Some Nepali jobseekers already staying in the UK have also been targeted.

The Embassy has advised filing reports with local police units or the National Anti‑Fraud Network (Action Fraud) in the UK and with investigative agencies in Nepal, noting that such crimes are punishable in both countries.
