KATHMANDU: The interim government has approved new organisational structures and positions for the Nepal Police and the Office of the Auditor General and its subordinate bodies. It has also amended regulations governing the Nepal Administration Service, the government spokesperson said today.

Announcing the major decisions of the Council of Ministers meeting of January 5, Minister for Communication and Information Technology Jagadish Kharel said the government amended the Schedule of the Nepal Administration Service (Formation, Group and Class Division and Appointment) Regulation, 2050 BS. Kharel said the cabinet also approved one‑off financial assistance of $10,000 to the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Resilience Fund as a gesture of solidarity.

Minister Kharel said the government has mandated the Ministry of Finance to make necessary arrangements to enforce a report on maintaining uniformity in remuneration and facilities for office‑bearers in state‑owned institutions, boards, committees and public corporations.

The minister added that the government has approved the participation of various Nepali authorities in events abroad, including CIAA Commissioner Dr Hari Paudel, for training on good governance and anti‑corruption to be held from January 22 to 27 in Thailand. The government also permitted a Nepali delegation, led by the secretary of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies, to attend the Nepal‑Bangladesh secretarial‑level meeting in Dhaka.

The government appointed Lieutenant General Ganesh Kumar Shrestha of the Nepali Army, currently serving with the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA), as Force Commander.

The cabinet has also approved the payment agreement reached between the Government of Nepal and Emergent Forest Finance Accelerator, Inc to reduce carbon emissions.
