KATHMANDU: Finance Minister Rameshore Prasad Khanal has stressed that the election to the House of Representatives should be conducted frugally.
Speaking at a meeting with office‑bearers of the Election Commission in Kathmandu today, Minister Khanal emphasised the need to hold the election with minimal expenditure, while pledging to mobilise the necessary means and resources to ensure its successful conclusion. He said the Ministry of Finance has focused its attention on the election and lauded the round‑the‑clock engagement of all EC office‑bearers and employees.
The election code of conduct will be implemented soon and that the Cabinet and senior officials will be informed, according to Acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari
Commissioners Sagun Shumsher JB Rana and Janaki Kumari Tuladhar, Secretary Krishna Bahadur Raut and other senior EC officials briefed Finance Minister Khanal on election preparations.
